Volkswagen T25 / T3 Autohomes Karisma (Mark 3) Camper Model History
Circa 1988 Autohomes introduced the latest version of the T25 / T3 Volkswagen Autohomes Karisma. This was an updated and improved version of the Autohomes Karisma (Mark 2) and was officially called the Autohomes Karisma Mark 3 although generally it was just called the Authomes Karisma. As with the Mark 2 version it was a 2 berth camper with a hightop roof. The interior had cupboards along the side behind the drivers seat and the rear seat converted into a 3/4 width double bed. The hightop had extra storage cupboards built in. The improvements over the Autohomes Karisma (Mark 2) included the following VW model updates such as rectangular headlights, front and rear moulded bumpers, front spoiler, full wheel covers, rear wash wipe, heated rear window, padded steering wheel, dipping rear view mirror, illuminated vanity mirror, intermittent front windscreen wipers, drivers door pocket, cigar lighter and clock. To complement the VW model changes Autohomes added new exterior graphics, new soft furnishings, new style furniture with heat resistant surfaces and a dash top storage console. The Karisma MK3 was essentially the same as the Autohomes Kameo MK3 model but with a much better specification. Note: As the new model was phased in a few versions were made with the older round headlamp VW base model but with the new Autohomes graphics and furnishings. This version of the Autohomes Karisma was fitted with water cooled engines. A) Adjustable front drivers cab seat. B) Swivelling adjustable front passenger seat.
Extensive storage in wardrobe, cupboards, lockers and drawers including a unit to take the included as standard Thetford Porta Potti 235 flushing toilet. Furniture is finished in a very attractive wipe clean wood grained laminate with heat resistant work tops that fold away to reveal the cooker, sink, drainer, cutlery storage and vanity unit complete with mirror.
C) Enamelled sink and cooker unit with grill. Hinged toughened glass top over cooker and sink / drainer / vanity unit covered with a heat resistant work top.
Electrolux RM 212 three way (gas / 12 volt / 240 volt operated) refrigerator (with electronic ignition system) below sink. Fridge has internal freezer compartment. The Carver water heater was mounted in the top half of the cupboard next to the fridge.

I) Rear bench seat converts to a large double bed (185.5 cm a 122 cm).

Side storage unit with cupboard underneath that can hold the Thetford 235 Porta Potti and two Camping Gas 907 gas cylinders.
Stainless steel roof rack at rear is standard equipment. Ladder is an optional (at extra cost) extra for the Karisma model.

Other features include: Full carpeting including cab area. Caravan body sides are insulated up to window level. Built in 54.5 litre (12 gallon) freshwater tank (above floor inside rear seat to prevent freezing in winter) with water gauge and external lockable filler cap. Electric submersible water pump with foot operated isolating switch. 54.5 litre (12 Gallon) waste water tank (not standard on the Kameo model). Cupboard storage for two Camping Gas 907 cylinders. Thetford Porta Potti 235 flushing toilet (not standard on the Kameo model). 10 litre Carver water heater (not standard on the Kameo model). Zig CF6 / CF8 Control panel incorporating battery charger, fuses , battery condition indicator and second battery (not standard on the Kameo model). Opening sliding window on offside above cooker / sink. Mains electric hook up with earth leakage and overload circuit breakers. 12 volt and mains electric socket. Fluorescent lighting above kitchen. Spot light next to rear roof locker (12 volt, 10 Watt). Courtesy lights. All the windows are fully curtained with velcro strips at bottom for added privacy. Fly screen for sliding window. Three rear restraint straps. Cocktail cabinet and crockery storage rack incorporated into pull out front overhead roof lockers. Melamine crockery (not standard on the Kameo model).

Fully insulated double skinned roof. Multi directional opening roof light with fly screen provides ventilation. Two opening high level double glazed windows in side of roof.
