Volkswagen T25 / T3 Autohomes Kameo (Mark 2) Camper Model History
Circa 1984 Autohomes introduced the latest version of the T25 / T3 Volkswagen Autohomes Kameo. This was an updated and improved version of the Autohomes Kameo Mark 1 and it was officially called the Autohomes Kameo Mark 2 although generally it was just called the Authomes Kameo. As with the Mark 1 version it was a 2 berth camper with hightop roof. The interior had cupboards along the side behind the drivers seat and the rear seat converted into a 3/4 width double bed. The hightop roof had extra storage cupboards built in. The improvements over the Autohomes Kameo Mark 1 included restyled high top roof with opening high level windows and doors on the rear roof storage area, new soft furnishings, mains electric hook up with earth leakage circuit breaker, 12 volt socket, enamelled cooker and sink with a hinged glass top over the cooker, separate drainer, simplified and strengthened conversion of the rear sear to a double bed, centre leg table, cutlery draw, larger vanity unit with mirror, water gauge, special wheel trims and a large (approx 2 cubic foot) Electrolux RM212 fridge (gas, electric, 12 volt) with freezer compartment and electronic ignition. This version of the Autohomes Kameo was fitted with VW water cooled engines. A) Adjustable drivers cab seat with cover that matches the rear upholstery. B) Swivelling adjustable passenger cab seat with cover that matches the rear upholstery.
Extensive storage in wardrobe, cupboards, lockers and drawers including a unit that stores the optional (at extra cost) Thetford Porta Potti 235 flushing toilet. Furniture is finished in a very attractive wipe clean wood grained laminate with heat resistant work tops that fold away to reveal the cooker, sink, drainer, cutlery storage and vanity unit complete with mirror.
C) Enamelled sink and cooker unit with grill. Hinged toughened glass top over cooker and sink / drainer / vanity unit covered with a heat resistant work top.
Cutlery storage draw.
Electrolux RM 212 three way (gas / 12 volt / 240 volt operated) refrigerator (with electronic ignition system) below sink. Fridge has internal freezer compartment.

I) Rear bench seat converts to a large double bed (185.5 cm a 122 cm). New strengthened and simplified method for converting from seat to bed.

Side storage unit with cupboard underneath that holds the optional Thetford 235 Porta Potti and two Camping Gas 907 gas cylinders.
Stainless steel rear roof rack is standard equipment.
Side sliding door.
Other features include: Full carpeting including cab area.
Caravan body sides are insulated up to window level. Built in 54.5 litre (12 gallon) freshwater tank (above floor inside rear seat to prevent freezing in winter) with water gauge and external lockable filler cap. Electric submersible water pump with foot operated isolating switch. Cupboard storage for two Camping Gas 907 cylinders. Mains electric hook up with earth leakage and overload circuit breakers, 12 volt socket. Cocktail cabinet and crockery storage rack incorporated into pull out front overhead roof lockers.
Storage cupboard with doors at rear of roof.
Opening sliding window on offside above cooker / sink. Fluorescent lighting above kitchen. Courtesy lights. All the windows are fully curtained with velcro strips at bottom for added privacy.
5) Options available at extra cost included: Childs cab bunk. Propex thermostatically controlled blown air heating system. Water heater. Built in but removable black and white TV. Fitted crockery. Fly screen for sliding window. Second battery and Zig CF6 / CF8 Control panel with fuses and battery condition indicator.
Waste water tank Thetford 235 Porta Potti flushing toilet. Rear seat restraint straps. Rack systems including bicycle and sailboard racks. Wheel trims. Rear seat belts - either lap belts (one, two or three) or three point belts (one or two).

Fully insulated double skinned roof. Multi directional opening roof light with fly screen provides ventilation. Two opening high level double glazed windows in side of roof.
